Dengue Fever
Recently our Taman has a few cases of Dengue Fever, and this week one of our EXCO member from the resident committee has Dengue Fever too.
What is Dengue Fever?
"Dengue fever (IPA: /ˈdɛŋgeɪ/) and dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) are acute febrile diseases, found in the tropics and Africa, and caused by four closely related virus serotypes of the genus Flavivirus, family Flaviviridae.[1] The geographical spread is similar to malaria, but unlike malaria, dengue is often found in urban areas of tropical nations, including Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia, Philippines, India and Brazil. Each serotype is sufficiently different that there is no cross-protection and epidemics caused by multiple serotypes (hyperendemicity) can occur. Dengue is transmitted to humans by the Aedes aegypti (rarely Aedes albopictus) mosquito, which feeds during the day.[2]" - Wikipedia
Since the Aedes Mosquito only feed during the day, we need to find a way to protect our family from Mosquito bite during daylight. Seem like Aedes is not Vampire after all :)

I am using Inset Repellent during the night and also during the day time for protection. However I am not using those Insert Repellent which is very smelly or stinky. I am using Body Cream or Lotion that contain Allantoin which is a natural insect repellent.
More information on Allantoin here, here and here. This is the body lotion that I am using which contain Allantoin (RM30.00 per compressed can of Nett 250ML)
