KUALA LUMPUR, May 21 (Bernama) -- Seventeen people were detained for an illegal gathering infront of the DAP office in Ampang Jaya Thursday night.
Ampang Jaya police chief ACP Abdul Jalil Hasan said those detained at 9pm included Teratai state assembly member Jenice Lee.
"Police ordered them to disperse four times but they refused to do so," he said when contacted.
The gathering by DAP members in Teratai and Ampang Jaya were in protest against the Perak Barisan Nasional (BN) government.
"The group wore black shirts and carried candles during the gathering. They were taken to Pandan Indah police station where statements will be recorded."
Abdul Jalil said they would be detained until their statements were recorded.
