A 58-YEAR-OLD grandmother and two mothers were among 18 people rounded up by police in a supposed sweep against rival gangs in a small town near Kuala Selangor.
But, the women hauled up -- and at 1 am too -- were the ones who had signed a petition to urge the police to rid their community in Taman Tennamaram of the gangsterism terror they had been enduring for purportedly more than 10 years.
Yesterday, the women and their families were outraged, claiming that they were treated like criminals instead of being seen as law-abiding citizens seeking police help.
The manner in which they were picked up has left residents of Taman Tennamaram furious. A police party had stormed grandma P. Thanggama’s house at 1am yesterday while she was asleep. Read more here..
